Wednesday, June 29 Depart from Detroit at 9:40 PM on KLM flight 616.
Thursday, June 30 Arrive at Amsterdam at 11:00 AM local time. Take KLM flight 305 at 2:20 PM to Zurich, Switzerland, arriving at Zurich airport at 3:45 PM. We will be met by Scouts and leaders from the Lachen Scout group at the airport and travel with them by train to Lachen. (Lachen is a town of about 6000 people on the south side of Lake Zurich. Scouts from Lachen represented Switzerland at the 1992 Connecticut International Camporee.) They have a barbecue planned for Thursday evening. There, we will be assigned to host families for our stay in Switzerland.
Friday, July 1 Morning with host families. Afternoon tour of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife factory, the Swiss National Archives, and a cheese factory.
Saturday, July 2 A small mountain climbing hike in the countryside.
Sunday, July 3 A boat trip on Lake Zurich and a tour of Zurich.
Monday, July 4 Morning tour of a Swiss chocolate factory. Then take a local train to Sargans and the 2:34 PM train from Sargans to Salzburg, Austria. Arrive at Salzburg at 7:22 PM. Eat dinner and change money, then travel to Pfadfinderdorf Zellhof, a Scout camp 12 miles north of Salzburg. We will have bunk rooms and a kitchen in a large building.
Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6 Visit Salzburg and the surrounding countryside while staying at Pfadfinderdorf Zellhof. Scouts from Austria, Germany, and The Netherlands will be in camp while we are there.
Thursday, July 7 Morning in Salzburg. Take the 11:05 train from Salzburg to Vienna arriving at 2:25, the tram between train stations, then the 4:00 train to Bratislava, Slovakia, arriving at 5:07. We will be met by a group of Slovakian Scouts. They have arranged for us to stay at a youth hostel.
Friday, July 8 We will take the bus into Vienna and spend the day there. We will return to Bratislava for the night.
Saturday, July 9 The Bratislava Scouts will show us the city of Bratislava and we will take a boat trip on the Danube past some nearby castles.
Sunday, July 10 More sightseeing in Bratislava, then take the 1:06 PM train to Budapest, arriving at 4:23 PM. We will be hosted by Troop 400. They will meet us at the train station and then take us on a short sightseeing tour of Budapest.
Monday, July 11 An excursion by train to the Danube bend near Budapest, where we can wade and build sand castles. Return to Budapest by boat on the Danube.
Tuesday, July 12 Tour the sights of Budapest. Then take the 9:10 PM train to Prague
Wednesday, July 13 Arrive in Prague at 5:59 AM Check bags in the train station, then spend the day sightseeing in Prague Spend the night in a Scout cabin in Roztoky, a suburb of Prague, 15 minutes by tube, then 15 minutes by bus, then 15 minutes walk from the train station.
Thursday, July 14 Another day of sightseeing in Prague Take the 7:45 PM train to Hamburg
Friday, July 15 Arrive at Hamburg Altona station at 6:30 AM. Take the 8:39 AM train north. Change trains at the German Danish border. Arrive at Tinglev, Denmark, at 11:07 AM. We will be met by our host troop from Broager, Denmark. They will take us to Broager where we will have a barbecue and then go to the homes of our host families.
Saturday, July 16 Meet at 11:00 AM for sightseeing in Broager, a forest walk, and a brickyard museum. Rest of the day free with host families.
Sunday, July 17 Meet at Graasten at 12 noon for a ringriding festival.
Monday, July 18 Morning visit to one of the largest slaughterhouses in Denmark. Then pack for camp.
Tuesday, July 19 Morning departure to Blue Summer. Set up camp. We will be part of a camp family that will include the Broager troop, the Søndermark troop that will be hosting us in Copenhagen, and the Gyldenløve troop from Jystrup Sj, Denmark.
Wednesday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 27 BLUE SUMMER national camp of the Danish Guide and Scout Association. We will take a bus trip to Legoland during the camp.
Thursday, July 28 Return to Broager and host families. Wash clothes, etc.
Friday, July 29 8:00 AM breakfast at Broager Scout house with host families. Then take the 9:46 train from Graasten, arriving at Roskilde at 2:26 PM. Spend a couple of hours seeing the cathedral and Viking Ship museum, then on to Copenhagen (22 minutes). We will stay in the Scout house of the Søndermark Troop.
Saturday, July 30 Shopping and sightseeing in Copenhagen an evening visit to Tivoli Gardens
Sunday, July 31 Take the train to Frederiksborg Castle, then go on to a beach on the coast. Return to Copenhagen and take the overnight train from Copenhagen to Stockholm. Leave Copenhagen at 11:15 PM.
Monday, August 1 Arrive in Stockholm 7:47 AM. We will be met by Scouts and leaders from Norra Lindingö Sjöscoutkar Sea Scout group. Scouts will stay with host families while leaders will stay in their Scout house - Sightseeing in Stockholm
Tuesday, August 2 In Stockholm with host families - sightseeing, etc.
Wednesday, August 3 Take a boat to their group’s summer camp site on a small island in the Stockholm archipelago. Go sailing with their Scouts in the afternoon.
Thursday, August 4 Possibly more sailing and camp activities. Return to Stockholm for a barbecue at the home of their troop leader. Everyone will spend the night in their Scout house.
Friday, August 5 Morning bus to Stockholm airport. Leave Stockholm at 11:40 AM on KLM flight 194. Arrive in Amsterdam at 1:50 PM. Leave Amsterdam at 2:50 PM on KLM flight 615. Arrive in Detroit at 5:10 PM.
