Michigan International Camporee 2000
Rules for Visiting Camp

For the safety and security of all, these guidelines are established for visiting Northwoods Reservation during the Michigan International Camporee 2000, July 30 - August 6, 2000.

All visitors must report to the administration headquarters upon arrival at camp, regardless of their affiliation with Chief Okemos Council, participating units, or MIC staff and regardless their familiarity with Northwoods Reservation.

A visitor is defined as any person who is not registered as a participant or staff member of MIC. A registration list will be available at the council office, and at Northwoods administration headquarters. The steering committee for the MIC requests that, if possible, visiting is limited to Saturday, August 5, when a program for guests is planned.

  1. International Festival Day, August 5, 2000 is the official visitor day for the Michigan International Camporee 2000. Registration forms are available at the Council Service Center.
  2. If you plan to visit the MIC 2000 on any other day, please contact the Chief Okemos Council office, at 517-321-9400, to register ahead of your arrival. A pre-registration form is available for visiting. No pre-registration will be accepted after July 25th at 5:00 PM.
  3. Security personnel will be at the entrance of camp. Every visitor must be logged in at the gate and then proceed to the administration headquarters, as soon as they arrive at camp. Those who are unfamiliar to the administration staff will need to present a picture ID; the license number and description of the vehicle that they arrived in. Each visitor will be assigned a Visitor ID tag and lanyard ($10.00 deposit required), which should be worn visible at all times.
  4. Visitors should not arrive before breakfast; the administration headquarters will not be open. Meal vouchers should be purchased at this time for meals that the visitor wishes to eat while at camp. The visitors will eat in the dining hall; troops will not have the capacity to share meals with guests. Because of program plans, the Wednesday supper will not be available to visitors.
  5. When visiting camp, no campsite is to be entered without invitation of the campsite leaders. If no one is present do not enter campsite. Program areas can be observed, but visitors may not participate in daily program activities.
  6. All visitors must be logged out before leaving. Please return to the administration headquarters to turn in the Visitor ID tag and lanyard (deposit is then returned). At the end of the day, any visitor who has not logged out will be considered "missing", and the security staff will make extensive efforts to locate that person. It is important that you follow this procedure before departing. Visitors will be expected to leave by 7:00 PM; the only exceptions will be those visiting for the International Campfire show, Tuesday, August 1, or for the Native American Pow-Wow, Thursday, August 3; on these evenings, visitors may stay until 11:00 PM.
  7. No visitor may stay in camp overnight. Any person wishing to visit the MIC, on two consecutive days, could make arrangements to stay at a local camping area; several are available.
  8. Visitors with children should plan to visit only on Saturday, August 5; which is when the International Festival will be held, as well as several other events planned for our guests.
  9. Of course, there is NO SMOKING in camp, at any time; visitors are requested to stay on the trails and roads; no vehicles are allowed in camp; please ask permission before taking photographs.
  10. Be sure to stop in at the Trading Post.

These guidelines apply to every visitor; no MIC participant or staff member has the authority to waive any portion of these rules. Please understand that, by visiting during this event, you agree to these guidelines, and promises to follow the rules of Scouting, while in camp.

As a Visitor at the Michigan International Camporee 2000, I agree to follow these guidelines.
