Two weeks ago at our Court of Honor we had out formal Chief Okemos Council Friends of Scouting (FOS) fund raising campaign presentation.

The FOS is the largest source of funding for our council.  Last year the Council spent ~$120 in direct support for each of our Scouts. (We have over 7300 Scouts in our council). 86% of all council revenues went directly to Scout programs and camping experiences all serving the positive values of youth development. We each have the opportunity to demonstrate our support for the good work of Scouting, our Council, and our Scouts by donating to the FOS.

This year, as a bonus, the Dart Corporation is offering to match contributions that exceed your last year's contribution. For example,  if you gave $100 last year, and give $150 this year. Dart Corporation with contribute an additional $50. (Making the total benefit to the FOS of $200). In addition, if we beat our total Troop/Crew contribution from last year by 10%, we will get free rank badges in 2005. (Last year Troop / Crew 180 raised just over $2100).

Recognition awards are also available. These start at the $120. (A Norman Rockwell commemorative mug). Other recognition levels are at  $250, $300, $600 and up. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated. (If you would like to know how much you donated last year, let me know. I can get the information for you.)

So far we have had four families donate a total of $1,000 ! ( WOW !, thank you !) This represents about ~10% of our families, and ~40% of our 2005 goal. (The 2005 Troop/ Crew 180 goal is $2,350).
